When you have to produce a
creative solution in, say, a
week, don’t leave it all until the day before the
deadline. Make the first few steps right away. Collect
important information, get inputs from other creative
people,
brainstorm your own ideas. The objective is not
to take it to fruition, but to give yourself enough
input to be aware of the situation, launch the thinking
process, and then let your brain work on autopilot.
Yes, the pressure of the deadline concentrates the
conscious mind wonderfully, but the conscious mind works
millions of times slower that the subconscious one.
By
engaging
your subconscious mind, you can get true insight, see
the current situation and the desired future
holistically, and ultimately create the most valuable
solutions that lead to that desired future. When you’re
burned with a desire to solve a complex problem, while
you sleep, your subconscious mind continues to work on
the problem your conscious minds have failed to solve.
Give your subconscious mind “what” and “why”, and it
will come back with “how” after a while, usually when
you wake up from a
sleep.
The more you practice it, the better and faster ideas
you get from your subconscious mind.
